Coco's Restaurant:      18355 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana
6:00-7:30 pm - Social Gathering
         7:45 pm - Speaker

The subject of this next talk is how the Kabbalah, its Tree of Life and the connecting 22 Hebrew letters/symbols, plays a significant role in the definitions of Astrology’s archetypal planetary meanings. You don’t want to miss this talk that can give you a better understanding to that age old saying “As Above, So Below” and “As Without, So Within”. Know what you and the world are “Receiving” with the help of the Kabbalah, its Tree of Life, the connecting Hebrew 22 letter alphabet and the structures of Astrology.

Dan’s first encounter with Astrology was 40 years ago, while serving in Vietnam. Since then he has continued his love of the science through the understanding and sharing of its principles. Much of his education on the subject is selftaught. He has been a student and teacher at the Carroll Righter home for over 20 years, and before that was a part of The New Age Philosophy Center in Santa Monica. He is currently a regular teacher / speaker at the Carroll Righter home on Tuesday nights. He has been an ongoing speaker at NCGR on such subjects as "The Astrological Symbolism of The DiVinci Code", "Pluto entering Capricorn", "Saturn in Virgo and Libra", and one of his favorite subjects, "The Five Stations (pentagram) of Venus’ current 8 year retrograde sojourn from 2004 and ending with 2012".

Past Meeting Thursday October 20

Speaker: Arthyr Chadbourne

Topic:  FIND THE HIDDEN GOLD IN YOUR CHART

Coco's Restaurant:      18355 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana
6:00-7:30 pm - Social Gathering
         7:45 pm - Speaker

Master Astrologer Arthyr W. Chadbourne promises to reveal a way to look at your astrological chart that can transform your life. “The way we view ourselves as adults,” he says,  “usually results from the constant barrage of negative signals, both vocal and silent, we heard when we were children, all telling us how we should be or act.  These come from the people we trusted as 'knowing adults' and whether right or wrong, such false beliefs are taken as a truth, very difficult to dispel. Inside, we feel there is something wrong but cannot put a label on the problem. To remedy this, we consult astrologers with the hope that the astrology chart may reveal some answers. The answers exist, but the astrologer needs to know how to find the nuggets within the birth chart.”

Arthyr will speak on how to examine the natal chart to find the hidden gold that can transform your life. Bring your charts to the meeting to find some unique ways to do so.

Chadbourne, a third-generation astrologer, has frequently been recognized as one of the world’s finest traditional horary astrologers. His books include the innovative Ancient Whispers from Chaldea, a nominee for the prestigious Regulus award in 2008.  He is a popular teacher of horary astrology in both Santa Monica and Laguna Hills, and lectures frequently to other groups. He has also written The Moment of Truth, a complete horary course, and under the auspices of Charter Communications, has recently written, produced and directed a professional hour-long television show about astrology, also called The Moment of Truth.  The pilot is currently being shown on Charter’s Channel 101 four times a day, weekdays at 1 a.m., 7 a.m., 4 p.m., and 9 p.m., and weekends at 1 a.m., 9 a.m., 3 p.m., and 10 p.m., from September 19 through October 24, 2011.

Speaker: Brian Evis

Topic:  The Nodes:  Fate, Destiny and Free Will

Coco's Restaurant:      18355 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana
6:00-7:30 pm - Social Gathering

7:45 pm - Speaker

Brian Evis is a Certified Professional Astrologer by the International Society for Astrological Research  (ISAR).  Since 1980, he has provided astrological counseling and consulting services for thousands of clients -- including many successful leaders in the fields of entertainment and business, and fellow astrologers as well.  He has been lecturing at the Los Angeles NGCR meetings once or twice a year since 2001.

Where the nodes are transiting in our charts is a direction indicator of how our life should be flowing along. We feel a sense of fate and destiny when the transiting nodes of the moon make a strong aspect to any point in our chart.  We have free will throughout life, but when a transiting node activates our chart, we find that the hand of destiny touches us.

This is especially true for relationships entering or leaving, as well as career developments.  A nodal transit can bring in a love relationship, a career shift, a financial development, or a new realization inside you that you've grown to a new level of consciousness.  Brian will begin by describing the effects of the south node conjuncting a personal planet in the natal chart.  Then he will detail the effects of the most interesting transits of the north and south nodes to the important and the more obscure points in chart.  You can see more about Brian here:  http://thesurrealdeal.net/Brian1.html

Note:  We will need to vote on selecting a new vice-president.   Those interested should prepare for nomination.  Candidates must be members of NCGR.  Duties will be to assist the president, be able to attend meetings,  run our meetings in the absence of the president, and run the chapter in case the president is incapacitated.   We will also vote on raising our meeting contributions so we can adequately pay our speakers.
If anyone has any thoughts, or suggestions that may help our chapter, please contact any of our officers. Please join us for an evening of astrological information and fun.

Topic:  When Will I Be Loved?

Coco's Restaurant:      18355 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana
6:00-7:30 pm - Social Gathering

7:45 pm - Speaker

The astrology of relationship.

In the Spring a fuller crimson comes upon the robin's breast;
In the Spring the wanton lapwing gets himself another crest;
In the Spring a livelier iris changes on the burnish'd dove;
In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of what the ladies have been thinking about all winter.

-  Lord Tennyson, Poet, with an assist from Jack, Poet of Woodland Hills

Love?  What's this powerful all encompassing emotion, which takes over two rational people and makes them behave in irrational ways, which the great philosophers, poets and writers have tried for a millennium to explain.  This evening as the vibration of love pervades Coco's, Gaye Nelson will explain to us the astro-dynamics of love.  Everyone should bring their charts.

Gaye has been a full-time professional astrologer since 1988, and studied it for many years before that.  She will share principles from her book, "The Male / Female Balance"
and other compatibility techniques, as well as synastry, affinity and composite charts.

Everybody should be alert, as cupid may shoot his arrows this night.

Rose Murray’s Latest Article in Dell Horoscope Magazine

A New Angle on Compatibility

in Rose Murray’s Latest Article in
                      Dell Horoscope Magazine

Rose Murray, a member of Los Angeles NCGR, has a new article on newsstands.     Here's the press release:

In "Powerful Links Between Charts That Transform Lives," (Dell Horoscope Magazine, July 2011 issue, now on sale), relationship astrologer Rose Murray approaches compatibility from the standpoint of fortunate configurations that form between two charts.   "I found though doing much research with celebrity charts how often enhancing and mediating energies, when discovered between two person's planets, form success-producing energies that result in some very interesting and unique shared talents and opportunities. One should look for trines, kites and mystic rectangles formed between the two charts and for similar patterns or repetitions of planets."

The results can be humorous or touching at times they so exactly portray the TV shows, comedy styles or romantic relationships that result from high and unique shared energies.  Lucy and Desi and their I Love Lucy shows were a great example of this.  Their charts could practically have written their TV episodes. But there were many serious relationships as well, such as that of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.  She had everything in her chart in exactly the right places to win his heart and transform his life.  The article also shows how goals you might hesitate to pursue on your own might seem much more reachable with a partner who fortifies your chart in very special ways.

In the article, Murray also delves into the influences of prominent persons who have what she calls "benefactor planets". This would apply to prominent persons in any profession who have helped many people in some way. A famous surgeon who has saved many lives or a film producer with a reputation as a star maker might have such a planet, and the recipients who benefit from his unique talents and chart would have planets in sync with his planets. The benefactor planet usually indicates by its nature, house and sign in just what area of life benefits are given to those whose planets are in tune with the benefactor.

In the article, Murray used as an example Maxwell Perkins, the famous 20th century editor, who almost single-handedly shaped early 20th century literature through his development of the novels and careers of such successful authors as Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Thomas Wolfe and many others.  "There were amazing links from all to his Saturn in Gemini in his 9th house of publishing," says Rose, "a perfect benefactor planet for an editor who would shape, guide and develop his authors, despite opposition to them from others in the publishing field.  "

Says the author, "I am fascinated with the results of my research. Mars conjunct Venus or Sun conjunct Moon are some of the old staples of astrological compatibility. But we can gain a much deeper look at a relationship by observing the unique patterns of energies shared by configurations and mediating planets. Not all couples have such patterns together, but when they do, they are usually headed for success of some type."

Topic:  The Dwarf Planets – Five More Plutos

Coco's Restaurant:      18355 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana
6:00-7:30 pm - Eat, Visit, and Talk Astrology
         7:30 pm - Speaker

Alison has broadcasted regularly on BBC radio (see right for latest) and writes horoscopes and articles for several glossy magazines. She has her own column in the Astrological Journal and her own live internet radio show. Alison is currently taking a Masters degree in cultural astronomy and astrology and has had 2 books published.

For the first time, the new planetary discoveries were given names outside of the Roman pantheon and the resulting re-classification of the Solar System provides a richer understanding of Pluto. But that’s just the beginning – there is so much more in this talk that will astound you. For Pluto’s comrades have a clear definition and a whole new world to represent.

This talk will give a general overview of the Kuiper Belt and it’s connection to the Asteroid Belt, plus Ceres, Pluto, Charon, Haumea, Makemake and Eris in an effort to shed some light on the issues for the Collective in the future. It will help if you can read Alison’s book about these planets before you come, since she will be covering new material and insights and you may like to know something about the Dwarf planets first.

John Green, editor of the U.K.’s Astrological Journal, likened the “profound insight” in her book to that of Melanie Reinhart’s `Chiron`.  Dell Horoscopes magazine said “The Future in the Stars is destined to be a classic, since it represents astrology at its best.”  You can buy it at http://www.findhornpress.com/2012-37/the-future-in-the-stars-380.html

Tribute to Robert Blaschke

Mary Plumb wrote and sent us this lovely tribute to Robert to post on our website.  Thank you Mary.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although he had long been a speaker at astrological conferences, I was first introduced to Robert Blaschke’s work through his articles in TMA, and with his first book, Progressions.

Robert Blaschke’s book made a dazzling impression amongst seasoned astrologers. His fine mind, his unique understanding of astrology and his rare ability to communicate intricate ideas poured out of the book. Each of his subsequent books added to that initial impression, and astrologers will forever be learning from him.

Robert obviously had a formidable intellect. Although he was steeped in astrological technique and history, his contributions to astrology are especially marked by his creative brilliance. He had  many levels operating in his mind concurrently, as anyone who heard him lecture, or ever had a conversation with him, recognized. He could track dates, times, historical events and personages, and name the planetary cycles and aspects that were relevant. He could bring many layers of information, many realms of meaning together, and interpret it in his unforgettable way.

I sometimes called him with a glimmer of an idea or thought or question about a particular technique or experience with a client.  He would take my often tentative idea and give it a marvelous lift by describing a plausible theoretical underpinning, or relating it to an existing astrological technique. His was more than perspicacious; his mind was spacious, grand and deep. It was always a treasure filled time to speak with him. He always found the high notes of whatever we were talking about by placing it into a beautiful and broad astrological framework.

Robert was an exhilarating man. He lived his life strongly and deeply, never denying difficulties or pain. He embraced his life path with passion and empathized deeply with his many students and clients. He always raised the bar by his great love of astrology and by his constant demonstration of the gifts that its study offered to the practitioner. His empathy, sensitivity and humor will always stay with me.

Luckily, we have his books and lectures to keep us on our toes now that we can’t have the joy and erudition of his company. His five books create an unparallel library for the serious student and lover of astrology. The books are replete with theory and method, and cover the territory from the practical experience of being a full time astrologer, to his subtle and graceful spiritual understanding. His wonderful wife, Carol Cilliers, and his beloved daughter, Amy Rose, will be keeping his business affairs on track for the benefit of us all.

I’m on a plane now, heading to Santa Monica for Robert’s memorial service at his house. My seat is by the window. The morning clouds below are indescribably beautiful – downy pillows of gentle rose and white. The full moon is stately, and high above. There are some glimpses of mountains below. It is an exquisite and perfect view.

Robert Blaschke showed us many peaks of refined thought and loving care.  We have all learned so much from him and been helped  so much in our work as astrologers. Always supportive and encouraging, Robert was patient and kind beyond measure.

In one of our last conversations, he told me that he hoped he would have the privilege of coming back into this world again as an astrologer.

You will be deeply missed, Robert. This life will not be the same without you.

Robert Blaschke is survived by his wife Carol Cilliers Blaschke, his daughter Amy Rose Blaschke, his father Al Blaschke, his brother Jim Blaschke, his nephew Jarin Blaschke, and his niece Lauren Blaschke.

Friends of Robert's are welcome to visit his memorial website.  http://memorial.yourtribute.com/earthwalk

Topic :     New Moon Before Birth Chart
Speaker:   Franciscus C. Cisco Huijbregts

Our esteemed guest offered his views on what to look for in the New Moon Before Birth chart.  This chart shows what the group that is born in that New Moon Cycle is here to do.   It's a useful technique for when you don’t have an accurate birth time, or when someone asks "What am I here for?".

Cisco started using this tool after looking at the New and Full Moons for many years and wondering how this show's up in people's lives.  It seemed to show one of the inner drives of life.

It's easy to find the time for the NMB4b in any ephemeris or most astrology programs, just cast the chart for the location of birth, and away you go!  Cisco says:  "Fun stuff - try it out on yourself."

Cisco is an Aquarian with enough Leo Rising to entertain even the dullest skeptic. A Vietnam Vet, born in Holland, raised in Australia – Cisco has long been a student of the physical, sociological and esoteric sciences.

He studied physics and chemistry in college before being drafted by the US Army.  There he trained scout dogs and worked as a photographer.  After the service, he studied psychology and anthropology, earning his BS degree.  Among his many accomplishments is his work on the the Apollo 11 lunar lander.

Cisco then took up astrology and attended classes at the Carroll Righter Foundation in Hollywood.   He began teaching there a few years later, and currently instructs the advanced students.  Cisco has lectured internationally, and has been on radio and TV.  He currently hosts the “Aquarian Astrology” series for Time-Warner Cable in Santa Clarita and Ventura.  See:  http://www.scvtv.com/yourscv/yscv-cisco-list.html

Each of our esteemed guests gave their views on what to look for in the future, and how to best prepare for it.  Which countries will move forward and which will falter?  What important inventions will we see?  Inflation or deflation?  Kick up your heels and join us for an evening of esoteric fun, spontaneous predictions, and enjoyable enlightenments.

C. J. Testa: after facing many challenges in the business world,  CJ became a seeker of spiritual truth, studying religions from Christian Science to Judaism under many remarkable teachers.   She was motivated to immerse herself in metaphysical studies, such as the oracles of the ancients, astrology, numerology, tarot, the cards of destiny, crystal and gemstone work, mediumship with angels, and omens. She traveled through Asia were she studied the temples and Eastern cultures which opened doors for her in recent spiritual work. She is an avid student of astrology, which she feels will aid her in her spiritual work.  CJ looks forward to her participation in our symposium.
