Past Meeting October 21, 2010

Speaker : Dan Khoury
Topic :  Venus Retrograde- To Unite or Fight

Since the first retrograde of the Venus Sun Eclipse of June of 2004 we have been in an eight year period of world and personal change that culminates in 2012. This is the 5th leg of the star and final 19 month transition of Venus’ retrograde period. Venus in Scorpio will highlight for the world and us individually the intensity of it in this sign of powerful unions and just as powerful enemies. How does it reflect in your chart? What will it bring to the changing times? This is one of the most important planets that affect our basic love nature and at its retrograde placements we are called on to view how we love and value the things and people around us.

Dan first encountered Astrology 40 years ago while serving in Vietnam.  Since then he has continued his love of the science through gathering, understanding and sharing its principles. Much of his education on the subject is self-taught.  He also studied with the teachers of the Carroll Righter's for close to 20 years, and before that attended the New Age Philosophy Center in Santa Monica.  He is currently a regular teacher and speaker at the Carroll Righter Institute on Tuesday nights.

Dan has been a ongoing speaker at NCGR on such subjects as "The Astrological Symbolism of the Da Vinci Code”, Pluto entering Capricorn, Saturn in Virgo and Libra, and the five placements of Venus’ 8 years retrograde star – also the subject of this talk.  Venus’ last leg of its five-pointed eight-year cycle, the retrograde at 13 degrees 13 minutes of Scorpio. He will talk about this cycle and the upcoming Mayan date of December 21, 2012 and what will be presented to us for the next 19 months by this leg of the star.  See how it will affect the world, our nation and each of us individually.  Bring your chart, you will receive a five pointed star to place at its center to see what house it will fall in.

Note: Dues are due.  All chapter members are asked to pay their $15.00 annual dues. This does not apply to National NCGR members. However all member attendees pay $2.00 entrance fee, and visitors $5.00.

Coco's Restaurant has requested that we finish earlier than we have been, so please arrive as close to 6:00 pm as possible so we can get to our speaker by 7:30 pm.

We are always looking for interesting speakers or topics to be discussed, and are open to suggestions. In the past, we have had some great parties, and we have gone to the racetrack (to test our astrological theories, of course).

Jack Taube speaking in OC

October 13 Wed 6:00 PM
Polly's Bakery Cafe
23701 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 ph: 949-380-8383

Hosted by Laura Rose DesJardins and Marion Shanhart
Price: $12.00 per person

Jack Taube will discuss the Dark Moon, "Lilith", which he has worked with for many, many years and sees her as the most deadly and dangerous part of the horoscope.  It is important to note the house and solstice point in the chart where she appears as this has great significance.  Where she appears in the chart, according to Jack, is where there could be dire consequences and events in one's life.  He feels that whether or not this is just part of our karmic path remains open to debate.  This talk is based on the work of Ivy Jacobson and an article in the AFA bulletin.  He will share a lot of his own experiences with Lilith. Keep in mind Jack is an old time astrologer and looks at Lilith with years of experience. This should be a fascinating lecture and we all should bring our charts to see where Lilith is.

Jack Taube holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from City College in New York, and he also holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.  In the course of his professional life, he has been a social worker, psychotherapist, family counselor, and probation officer. His avocations have been flying and yacht racing.  His interest in Astrology began when he had a mystical experience while attending an astrology class.  He has been and presently is the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of N.C.G.R. for the past 25 years, and has been teaching astrology at the Carroll Righter Institute for the past 23 years.
